What is Asbestos and is it unsafe?
The human health effects from long-term unsafe asbestos exposure are well documented. Asbestos fibres are easily inhaled and carried into the lower regions of the lung where they can cause fibrotic lung disease (asbestosis) and changes in the lining of the chest cavity (pleura). These diseases can lead to reduced respiratory function and death. Long-term inhalation of asbestos fibres also increases the risk of lung cancer and mesothelioma.
Enlargement of the heart can also occur as an indirect effect from the increased resistance of blood flow through the lungs.
People are more likely to experience asbestos-related disorders if they:
are exposed to high concentrations of asbestos,
are exposed for longer periods of time, and/or
are exposed to asbestos more frequently.

Can I put Asbestos in my Junk Bin?
Asbestos and Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) cannot be placed in our Junk Bins. They are classified as Hazardous Materials and as such, CANNOT be placed in the Bin and cannot go to the local Construction and Debris dump. Asbestos must be handled by Professionals and removed properly. 1-888-JunkBin does NOT handle Asbestos removal and does not allow Asbestos in our Junk Bins. If you suspect that you have plaster with Asbestos or any product that may contain Asbestos, you will need to get it tested and provide the paperwork stating that their is no Asbestos. Failure to do so may result in the load being rejected. The rejected load will be returned to the Customer and any suspected Asbestos containing material will need to be removed by a qualified contractor. Additional charges will be applied for the returned load.
What if I have Vermiculite insulation?
Vermiculite itself has not been shown to be a health problem. However, some vermiculite insulation contained asbestos fibres, which can cause problems if inhaled. As long as this kind of vermiculite-based insulation remains undisturbed behind intact walls or in attic spaces and does not become airborne, it should not be a concern.
Of concern is Zonolite® Attic Insulation; this insulation was sold in Canada under the name of Zonolite® and was extracted from the Libby Mine in Montana, USA. This mine had a natural deposit of asbestos which resulted in the vermiculite being contaminated with asbestos.
Vermiculite produced by the Libby Mine has not been on the market in Canada for more than 10 years. Not all vermiculite sold in Canada before 1990 contains asbestos fibres. However, if you believe that your home may contain vermiculite insulation, it is reasonable to assume that it may be contaminated with asbestos.
If you have Vermiculite insulation, it is very possible that it may contain Asbestos. You will need to get the Vermiculite tested and provide the paperwork stating that their is no Asbestos. Failure to do so may result in the load being rejected. The rejected load will be returned to the Customer and any suspected Asbestos containing material will need to be removed by a qualified contractor. Additional charges will be applied for the returned load.

We focus on Customer Service first. We offer fair rates and we show up during the two hour window. Our Team Members are polite and wear uniforms. We offer a FREE no obligation quote on site.
Bins vs Dumpsters
Our Residential Junk Bins are designed to fit on driveways and our trucks can get down narrow city streets! We take great care in ensuring that our bins are placed on wood boards, so the bins do not actually touch your driveway. Our bins are clean, attractive and have rear doors that open that allow easy access to load. Traditional Dumpsters are larger, sometimes dented and rusted. Dumpsters are better suited for a Commercial use and construction sites. You won’t feel embarrassed having a 1-888-JunkBin in your driveway!
Do you take Hazardous Waste?
No we do not take Hazardous Waste. Hazardous waste is unwanted material or products that can cause illness or death to people, plants and animals. Please Google “Household Hazardous Waste” to find a facility close to you for safe disposal of hazardous waste. We cannot take the following items Paint Cans with Paint, Batteries, Asbestos, All Small Electronics, Fluids in Containers, Propane Tanks or other Items deemed Hazardous.
Should I use the Full Service or the Self Service?
With the Full Service option, 1-888-JunkBin provides ALL the labor and disposal service. We only charge for what we take away. We’re in and out, typically in less than 2 hours. Our Self Service Bin Rentals are typically onsite for as long as you need them. Our flat fee bin rental rate is based upon a 7 day rental period. This option requires you to place the items in the Bin, however, we can provide labour at an hourly rate to move heavier items, if required.
Why is the appointment a 2 Hour window?
The 2-hour arrival window refers to the period of time during which your 1-888-JunkBin will show up ready to work at your home or place of business. While we try to show up closer to the beginning of the 2 hour window, it is important to reserve the entire window in case a previous job runs longer than expected or our Team Members encounter heavy traffic. For your convenience, we will give you a call 15 minutes prior to arrival to prevent you from waiting longer than necessary.
What if I only need a Bin for a few days, is it cheaper?
Our Flat fee Bin Rental Rate is based upon a 7 day rental. Included in that rate is the drop off, pick up, and taking the items to be disposed of. We do not discount for a shorter rental.
What if I need the Bin longer?
No problem. Our standard flat fee rate is based upon a 7 day rental period. If you exceed the 7 days, a fee of only $10/day is charged for everyday above 7 days.
What if I fill the bin, but I’m still not done?
We understand that sometimes you may have more Junk to dispose of than you thought. We can arrange to dispose of the items in the Bin and a we charge a Dump & Return fee to bring back the bin to continue to load your Junk.
